Balance
Balance. I’ve always assumed the correlation between physical well being and spiritual well being but I’ve never really understood it until recently. Just as our physical bodies, our tangible muscles, need constant attention and stimulation to grow, and even maintain, same goes for our spirituality. It takes a lot of effort and time to grow spiritually, but only a very short time to lose the valuable ground we’ve gained if not maintained. Again, as does our physicality. We don’t really notice the gradual loss of our spiritual prowess until suddenly we catch ourselves in something. A thought process, a circumstance or an old habit and think, ‘where did that come from?’ or ‘how did I get back to this point?’ Now, all of the time and effort we’ve put into changing our thoughts, actions and habits is lost. Like our physical strength, our spiritual strength isn’t something we can ignore and then, when thought about, just start again at the place we left it. You have to regain….relearn….retrain again. It’s a supercompensative curve. The lesson to learn is, make sure you stay consistent with nurturing your spirit. Just as we stay consistent with nourishing our bodies. Balance. It’s easy to get caught up in our day to day demands and forget about our spiritual well being. Balance. Don’t wait to do, or put off your devotion. If you do, it’s not long before you’ll find yourself right back in those old habits and thought processes you worked so hard to change. Take the extra time to maintain and continue your growth. Find your balance.
